The Best Hotels in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

The StarTripper Journal presents the best places to stay in Amsterdam, both international luxury and boutique choices.

Our team to Amsterdam are four young professional travelers who have tested a lot of hotels, restaurants and night-clubs world-wide.

Amsterdam is the greatest small city in the world. From canals to world-famous museums and historical sights, Amsterdam is one of the most romantic and beautiful cities in Europe.

Amsterdam is a city of tolerance and diversity. It has all the advantages of a big city: good transport, rich culture and lively nightlife – and thanks to the extensive canals, it is quiet with little road traffic. The destination is never far away, so get a bike for an authentic local experience.

Museums are the main tourist attraction – the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum is a must.

Amsterdam shopping is great in department stores and shopping malls. Go to Dam Square – most department stores and shopping malls are within a short walking distance from the Dam Square. The best choices are offered by De Bijenkorf, Magna Plaza or the Kalvertoren on the Kalverstraat. If you like more luxury, bring your gold-cards and go to P.C. Hooftstraat.

Amsterdam has a lot of cafes and restaurants catering for every tastes, budgets and moods. Top quality restaurants and stylish bars as well as more traditional Dutch cafés.

Overall, the restaurants in Amsterdam have a relaxed vibe. Most restaurants do not demand fancy clothing or high heels. However, there are a lot of fine-dining restaurants and clubs where people do dress up.

The StarTripper Journal Recommends these Amsterdam Hotels:

Hotel picture Hotel Okura – a large, quietly luxurious hotel in a 23-storey building – situated in De Pijp hip foodie quarter.

Superior and Executive rooms are spacious, with a relaxing grey-blue and white colour scheme and touches of rich green. Beds are supremely comfy, and there are chairs to lounge in. Bathrooms are enormous, with showers as well as tubs. A good working desk and a safe with room for a large laptop, and there is an espresso machine with good-quality tea and coffee.

Hotel Okura is home to three superb Japanese Michelin awarded restaurants; Ciel Bleu, Sazanka and Yamazato. At restaurant Serre you can enjoy international specialties.

Nagomi Spa is the perfect place to get away from the stresses of daily life. A carefully chosen selection of treatments ensures that you can totally relax.
Nagomi Health is an oasis of tranquillity where you can exercise in total privacy, and professional trainers are present – indoor swimming pool, Jacuzzi and saunas.

Relaxed luxury with Japanese design, beautiful woods, clean lines and clear light – a large hotel, but soft colours and wooden armchairs absorb the busy-ness and assert a zen-like calm. The service is warm and polite.
